Johnny Cash: Johnny Cash Remixed

Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash Remixed

∗ ∗ ½

These dance and hip-hop remixes pointedly remove Johnny’s 1950s classics from their original context. It’s a valiant effort, but one that’s flawed on a very basic level—the distinctive “boom-chicka-boom” rhythm Johnny developed on those classic recordings sits awkwardly here atop the thumping electronic beats.
