The BBQ King’s Scramble Burger
Rising star Rhonda Towns shares her family’s recipe for the hearty Scramble Burger.

Ingredients
- 3 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup water
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 3 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tbsp. barbecue seasoning
- One 14-ounce can beef broth
- Barbecue sauce
- 6–8 hamburger buns, toasted
- 1 cup fresh chopped cabbage
Preparation
- Cook ground beef in water in deep pot for 30 minutes on medium heat, periodically turning and chopping.
- Add onions, garlic, salt, black pepper, seasoning and beef broth.
- Continue to cook on medium–low heat for 1 hour, periodically turning and chopping until most of the ground beef’s liquid is cooked away.
- Drain ground beef of remaining liquid.
- Place 2 tbsp. of barbecue sauce inside each toasted bun.
- Place large helping of Scramble Burger meat on a bun.
- Place 2 tbsp. chopped cabbage on top of meat mixture.
- Add about 2 tbsp. barbecue sauce.
Serves 6–8
